CR GEOFF Littler was returned as the councillor for Division 2 at the March
local government elections with 52 percent of the vote. It is his fourth
term as the local councillor. Cr Littler won the poll with 2220 votes compared
with 2061 votes for Crystal Neilsen and 122 informal.
Neilsen led the poll in Chevallum and Eudlo but Littler was the popular
choice in Palmwoods and Woombye.
THE new council was sworn in last Thursday. Cr Littler was elected as Deputy
Chairman of the Finance Committee and nominated as delegate to Australian
Airport Owners Association. New Mayor Don Culley has declared that he will
have a fair and balanced council and has assured Cr Littler that even though
he was not a member of his Residents First team, he and the ratepayers
of Division 2 will not be overlooked.
CONSULTANTS were appointed for the Palmwoods Local Area Plan last month
and Cr Littler said he was concerned that work had not advanced further.
He said it appeared staff were slipping behind in finalising the brief
for the consultants and he was disappointed that the Palmwoods LAP had
not been given the priority it deserved.
WORK is progressing well on the bikeways program with a link between the
town of Palmwoods and Colsak Close now almost complete. The path now effectively
takes cyclists/ walkers off the main road leading into Palmwoods.

for a public toilets amenities block at Eudlo.
The Palmwoods Pool has also been allocated funds from the Works Program,
with $1000 to be spent on security lighting and $5000 on a pathway and
a gate.
