SPECIAL GUESTS FOR RDA
Palmwoods Riding for the Disabled welcomed top cricketers Greg Matthews and Graham Gooch to their Hunchy Road headquarters last month, but the biggest thrill was the good news they brought with them.
The Variety Club and Advanced Hair Studio have donated a new horse to the RDA.
Matthews, the New South Wales cricket captain, and Gooch, the former English captain, arrived to personally "hand over the reins" on behalf of the AHS and the Variety Club.
After a test ride, Matthews announced he was pleased to be able to help the Riding for the Disabled.
"We hope that there will be many weeks and months of enjoyment from the horses that we can help provide," he said.
Riding for the Disabled helps disabled children with regular riding sessions, providing valuable therapy as well as enjoyment.
It relies on sponsorship and donations and the volunteers who assist with leading, grooming, saddling and walking beside the riders. Sessions are held on Saturdays and Tuesdays.

Greg Matthews gets in some practice as RDA treasurer and helper Jean Pike and Hunter Eggmolese, left, and Daniel Hutchinson look on.
