P.O. moves to fill gap

THE closure of the Palmwoods ANZ Bank has placed increased pressure for banking services on the Palmwoods Post Office, an agency of the Commonwealth Bank.

As a result, Australia Post and the Commonwealth Bank in Nambour will have information sessions in Palmwoods during the next three weeks.

A white board will be erected and two CBA staff made available to outline alternative banking possibilities to residents.

The information sessions will be this Friday, April 4, next Tuesday to Thursday, April 8-10, and the following Tuesday to Friday, April 15-18.

"We are getting a lot of enquiry at the Post Office, particularly from older people who are afraid of what happen to them now that they are losing their bank," Post Master Frank Martin said.

"Following this huge response to the decision, it was decided to set up an advisory service here at the post office to give people more information on how they can do their banking."
