THE 75th birthday of the Palmwoods Memorial Hall will be celebrated on
May 6.
Hall Committee secretary Marjorie Murray said the celebration would give
local residents an opportunity to take a trip down memory lane.
"The hall has played an important part in Palmwoods for many years," she
said. "It has been an important meeting place for a wide range of activities
and organisations."
Mrs Murray said the hall had a colourful history, including a time as the
local cinema and as a church during World War Two.
"People from all denominations met on Sundays, because at the time there
was no churches in Palmwoods," she said. "People who were here during the
war, have expressed the most interest in the hall's birthday."
A book outlining the hall's history is now being compiled by Wendy McMullin.
Mrs Murray said anyone who wanted to play a part in the celebrations should
call her on 5445 9257 or send a letter to PO Box 180 Palmwoods.
