THE Palmwoods Arts and Crafts Group celebrated the birthday of six members at its last meeting at The Shed on Old Bowling Green Road.

The birthday girls were Lorraine Rowland, Jeanette Kebblewhite, Joy Breen. Jean Pearson, Anne Borthwick and Lillian Rice.

On the same day, a calligraphy course was introduced by instructor Joan Lilly.

The calligraphy group will meet twice monthly at 9.30am on the second Monday of each month and at lpm on the fourth Wednesday of every month. For further information contact Joan 5445 0654.

On March 14, it the sun is shining, the Phoenix fabric painting instructor Lorraine Rowland will conduct a workshop in heliography.

This art is painting fabric using Phoenix liquid brilliants and the sun with the aid of leaves and fencing wire to make shadow photography on the marbelled fabric.

Members wishing to participate are asked to contact Lorraine 5445 0383.

The Palmwoods Arts and Crafts Group will have sharing days in basketry, pottery, needlework, tapestry, patchwork, intarasia knitting etc.

Eight members had their names on the whiteboard for help with folk art, so another sharing day for this craft has been arranged for the third Friday of each month.

Beginners will be taught the basic brush strokes and those who have had some experience will be helped with their projects.

The Palmwoods Arts and Crafts Group is committed to helping with the celebrations of thc Palmwoods Memorial Hall's 75th Anniversary celebrations on September 5, 6 and 7.

An art competition will be conducted in conjunction with active art and crafts displays. Group representative Joy Breen has been canvassing local businesses for assistance providing prizes.

All donations will he gratefully acknowledged on the numerous brochures which will be printed.
