Customers prove their loyalty

HUGE response to a customer loyalty scheme at Wades Woombye has resulted in big administrative headaches for staff.

Wades introduced the program as a replacement for the Aussie Rebate Group, which ceased on July 1, last year but has now been forced to shelve the scheme.

It will be replaced by a weekly and monthly cash draw.

All customers making purchases of $10 or more can place their cash register docket with their name and phone number, in a box near the checkouts.

One entry will be selected each Friday for $20 cash. On the last Friday of each month, all dockets for the month will be placed in a box and a draw for $100 will be made.

Wades Supermarket owner Bob Wade said there had been long delays in obtaining records of the existing Aussie Rebate members from the previous operators.

"This delay was compounded by the actual entering of these members (over 10,000) into our new program," he said. "We have entered all purchasers up until the end of November and money orders for those eligible are now available."

Mr Wade said the supermarket could not sustain the costly administrative operation as much as it would like to reward regular and loyal customers.

"It is our intention to continue to process the existing entries we have recorded and the money orders for these will be paid out at a later date, but the rebate system has ceased," he said.
