With the local government elections and the Orange County decision now behind us, it is to be hoped that Palmwoods will settle into a new era of stability and community unity.

The majority has spoken and the community had shown through the polls that it is happy with its elected representative.

The Planning and Environment court, after hearing both sides of the Orange County debate and giving a fair hearing to the views of objectors, has vindicated the local councillor’s stand on the issue.

As the Orange County issue has been a major divisive factor in community opinion during the past 12 months, it is to be hoped that it can now be put to rest.

Everything that can be done, has been done and the judge’s decision will hopefully be final.

The elected representative has given his assurances that Orange County will be the best residential subdivision in Palmwoods.

Let us now let him get on with the job that he has been elected by a majority to do – put the image of a town divided behind us. It’s time to stop the arguments and work together to get Palmwoods back on the map as the peaceful country town it rightfully is.
