Marj plays a winning tune
FOUNDER of the Palmwoods Singers, Marjorie Murray, has been named Nambour Quota Club's Woman of the Year.
The award recognises community contributions from a woman who lives in the local area.
Mrs Murray won the award for her direction of the Palmwoods Singers Theatrical Society, which she founded 12 years ago.
The latest honour comes on top of her 1994 Maroochy Bicentennial Award, the 1992 Citizen of the Year award and a national medal for women's achievement which she won for her work during the bicentennial year.
Mrs Murray received $4000 to have one of her original musicals professionally arranged and published, when she won the Maroochy Bicentennial award.
She said the awards were a bonus, because her personal satisfaction was providing entertainment to the public.
