FRED Seefeld of Jane Street will be leaving Palmwoods in May and for an extended period, will be residing in England. Fred will be greatly missed as he has been a very civic minded resident, always willing to participate in the organisations of not only Palmwoods, but of the wider region. The Seefeld family arrived on the Sunshine Coast in 1975, taking up residence nearer the coast. In 1990, they decided to settle in Jane Street, Palmwoods and that same year, Fred became one of the hard working members of the Palmwoods-Woombye Lions Club. He was also a committee member and a spokesman for the Sunshine Coast Commuters Association as he travelled daily to Brisbane to his work at the Commonwealth Employment Service. For three years, he was on the committee of the Lions Emergency Accommodation Centre in Nambour, and was a willing volunteer with the Palmwoods branch of the Riding for the Disabled Association. Today his family is scattered, but by returning to England, Fred will be able to catch up with the life and times of his son who is living there. Fred Seefeld will be taking leave of many of his friends in this district but when he goes he will be taking with him their good wishes and the hope that one day Fred will return to our shores and once gain reside in this district.
WEDDING bells rang out on Saturday, April 26, for the marriage of Anne Durdin and Allister McGregor of Main Street, Palmwoods. Anne’s four daughters - Melissa, Patricia, Louise and Nicole - wearing frocks of pale apricot and cream, attended their mother who chose a very dark green for her wedding ensemble. After the marriage ceremony, Allister and Anne McGregor left for a few days rest and relaxation at Mt Tamborine before returning home to Palmwods. Friends wish Anne and Allister health and happiness for the years ahead.
MR and Mrs Jack O’Brien of Chevallum Road have both suffered stints in hospital lately. Jack was hospitalised in Brisbane for some time and not long after returning home, his wife Gwen was admitted to hospital in Nambour. Jack and Gwen are both back at their Palmwoods home now and we trust that the future holds a lot less of the aches and pains that have plagued them
WELCOME back to Palmwoods-town Mrs Lynette Reed and family. Lyn and her two sons have taken up residence in Jane Street. The family are not newcomers to Palmwoods, as they lived in Taronga Street a few years ago.
