Contents - June 1997 RAINFALL FOR THE PAST DECADES...
Local weatherman Les Herse has been the Brisbane Bureau of Meteorology's official Palmwoods weather observer for the past 17 years - but he has been keeping his own records since 1950 and has records previously kept by the post office which date back to 1916.
The following table shows the rainfall in Palmwoods between 1966 and 1996 which Les has supplied.
He has a special rain gauge in his backyard which is checked every morning when there's a hint of rain in the air.
The readings are then logged direct to the weather bureau through a special remote observer terminal fitted to his telephone.
Anything over one millimetre is recorded.
