TWO local soccer players have tasted representative victory after being selected to play in the Sunshine Coast Gold soccer team which went on to claim the State Churches soccer title.
Christopher Bourke of Palmwoods and Elliot Peters of Woombye, who play for the Woombye Warriors Under 10s, were chosen from a pool of local players in May to represent the Sunshine Coast north team.
The rep team not only claimed the State title but also managed to remain undefeated. Christopher’s mother Moira Bourke said all the Sunshine Coast teams had performed well despite tough competition from other regions.
She said the professional black and gold Sunshine Coast uniforms had also made the players stand out from the crowd.
"This was the Sunshine Coast’s first year in the competition, and they all looked the part in their fantastic new uniforms," Mrs Bourke said. "The Sunshine Coast teams performed extremely well, and won many of the age divisions and I think it proves just how strong the competition is in our district."
