Personality plus…
WOOMBYE’S Vicki Neil exudes personality so she was a perfect candidate for the Woombye Palmwoods Lions Club to put up for the annual Miss Personality Quest - and she has shone through.
Vicki was crowned the quest’s regional winner - an area from Gympie to Caboolture - last month and heads off to Brisbane for the State finals in a fortnight.
Vicki, 23, was approached by Trevor Eichmann from the Palmwoods Woombye Lions Club, who encouraged her to become involved in the competition.
Vicki works for the Regional Education Department in Nambour, and is studying for a business degree in human resource management from the University of Central Queensland.
Judging for the competition was based on fundraising, sense of humour, grooming and deportment.
"There was a category winner for the girl who raised the most money, and then there was a category for personality," Vicki said.
"The personality section was based on our grooming and deportment, and then they looked at our sense of humour and people skills, all-round personality."
The contestants were judged at a day of interviews held in front of guests and family at the Nambour RSL.
"It was fairly daunting but it really has been a great experience," Vicki said. "I didn’t really think I would get as far as I have but I’m going into the finals with a confident attitude."
Vicki will meet with other regional winners to contest the state finals on July 12, at the Carlton Crest Hotel in Brisbane.
She said the competition had been very worthwhile, especially the fundraising which would go to support the work of the Lions Club.
"We visited the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane and saw the work the Lions were doing with the Kidney Foundation," she said.
"The work they are doing is unbelievable, and raising money for the cause has been a very worthwhile experience."
