Sunrise green effort
THE Woombye Sunrise Rotary Club helped to green up the local area on World Environment Day by planting more than 120 rainforest trees.
The group planted the trees on the old Petrie Creek dump site at Victory Park in Woombye. Project co-ordinator Merilyn Keene said that by making an active contribution, the group was looking after a small part of the world environment. The group’s next planting day is Sunday, July 13 between 10am and noon.
"If each volunteer plants 10 trees, a difference can really be made in just two hours work," Merilyn said. Anyone interested in helping can contact Merilyn on 5441 4176 during office hours.
