School sports comp STAFF and students at the Woombye State School have been busy preparing for the schools upcoming athletics carnival. Every Friday afternoon, students have been braving the winter westerlies to get into top condition for the carnival. Children and teachers are divided into three competitive team houses for the athletics carnival - Blaxland, Lawson and Wentworth. Physical Education Teacher Doug Toms said competition at the carnival was always "friendly, but fierce". Students compete for house honours, and also for a place in the School Athletics team. Mr Toms has been training the students in high jump, long jump and discus and said the ball games competition had attracted a lot of interest from students. |
