Church celebrates 70 years

THE Uniting Church will next year celebrate 70 years at its Church Street address in Palmwoods.

Everyone who attended the Methodist, Presbyterian or the Community Church or who grew up in Palmwoods, is being invited to contribute.

The Uniting Church was previously Methodist and before that, home to the Community Church where everyone in Palmwoods worshipped from the first settlement of the town.

The anniversary will be celebrated with a special weekend of activities.

Organisers are seeking any information, newspaper cuttings or photographs which relate to the church’s history in the area as they aim to co-ordinate a history of worship in the area.

The Palmwoods Uniting Church Adult Fellowship annual morning tea will be held on Tuesday, September 2, starting at 9.30am. It will include a program of music and competitions.

Guest speaker will be Anna Steffens, the pastoral care co-ordinator of the Blue Nursing service in Nambour. There will be a variety of stalls and admission is $3.
