Council helps family rebuild

THE Maroochy Shire Council has shown its support for the Howes family, whose McKees Road home burnt down in June, by waiving the application fees on a permit which will allow them to rebuild.

Cr Geoff Littler said the motion to waive the application fee was unanimously supported in council and that the family was extremely happy with the decision.

Peter and Celine Howes came home to find their uninsured home engulfed by flames on June 6.

The fire was attended by units from both the Palmwoods Rural Fire Brigade and the Nambour urban brigade.

The family is currently living in a caravan on their McKees Road property, but will soon begin to rebuild.

The Howes would appreciate donations of building equipment or anything else which might help to get them through this difficult time.
