Lions changes leaders THE Palmwoods-Woombye Lions club is beginning another year of office, after the changeover dinner on June 24, when the President and Board members were installed for 1997-98. They are president, Gordon Percival; vice-presidents Geoff Currie and Trevor Eichmann; secretary Jane Wright and treasurer, Fred Manthei. Helen Latter is the Lions "Tail Twister". Her job is to find out about members misdemeanours and issue fines accordingly. The members are planning a busy year of events, the first being the annual charity auction which was held last weekend. Lions will be a part of the Nambour Sugar Festival parade, when more than 100 large flags, representing Lions Clubs from all over the world will be carried. The clubs Miss Personality Quest entrant Vicki Neil, advanced to the State final at the Carlton Crest Hotel in Brisbane on July 12. She was a great ambassador for our area, raising some $4000 for the Lions Kidney and Medical Research Foundation, but was pipped at the post during the final judging. |
