Farm the Future

BUSH tucker will be on the menu at this year’s Farming The Future Expo in Cooroy.

The Eco Tent will be promoting bush tucker as a major new industry for the Sunshine Coast. The marquee will feature Maleny based group Basically Wild which will run the popular Hay Bale Cafe.

There will be an exciting menu of gourmet foods, made from indigenous ingredients. Also featured will be The Gourmet Gum, a bush tucker product manufacturer and the Barung Landcare group will have bush tucker plants for sale.

Permaculture cook Robyn Clayfield will demonstrate a range of home grown foods on the Eco Tent stage.

Local bamboo expert, Durnford Dart will combine his talent with the Cooroy based permaculture group to design an entrance sculpture to the marquee, including a living permaculture garden.

Information videos and talks on topics including organic architecture, farm forestry, herbs, EMR, protection and waste disposal will run all day, with programs available at the site office.

Organiser Darryl Fry said this year’s Eco Tent would be "bigger and better" than ever.

"Our aim is to stimulate new industries which are ecologically sustainable and above all create new employment opportunities," he said.

The Farming the Future Expo will be at the Cooroy Sportsground on August 1 to 3.
