Residents urged to use numbers

PALMWOODS residents are being urged to use new property numbers to avoid confusion for emergency and other services who need to find a property in minimum time.

Cr Geoff Littler said residents in the Palmwoods area who had recently been allocated street numbers are urged to display the number prominently at the front of their property.

He said displaying lot numbers could be confusing when trying to pinpoint an address, and emergency services in particular could save valuable time if a property was clearly identified by its street number.

Anyone who has a tenant living at a property should endeavour to advise them of the street number so it can be used in all references to the property.

The council automatically advises Australia Post, SEQEB, Telstra and the electoral office when it allocates street numbers.

Numbers are allocated for every 20 metres of road frontage. A property which, for example, has a 60 metre frontage will be allocated three numbers.

The council is continually working towards having every property in the shire numbered and is progressing towards that goal - although some residents still take a chance and fail to display and use proper street numbers.
