Parade entry delights PPA
THE success of the Palmwoods community entry in the Nambour Sugar Festival Parade was a major topic of conversation at the last meeting of the Palmwoods Progress Association. President Ron Corelli thanked the many community groups in Palmwoods for their attendance and support in making the entry such a big success. The efforts of Ray Knight, Jim and Lyndal Cushing and Ron Corelli and the invaluable input and organisation of Jenny McKay from the Palmwoods State School was also noted. The associations new flag made its debut at the parade and Mr Corelli said the "Proud to be Palmwoods" bumper stickers were also now available. Mr Corelli advised that the history walk plaques would be put in place by Woombye Rotary Sunrise within the next month. The PPA has registered its support for a nursing home in Palmwoods with the Sundale committee. Raffle tickets are now available for the hall model and will be in sale in Palmwoods during the coming weeks. The Palmwoods Garden Brochures are now complete and were presented to the meeting. A vote of thanks was recorded to Geoff and Trish Littler for their financial support in making the project possible. Planning is now underway for the Australia Day celebrations in Kolora Park and presentation of the citizen awards. It is hoped to include a Palmwoods naturalisation ceremony as part of the celebration which will again take the form of a community breakfast. |
