Arts news PALMWOODS Arts and Crafts Group has enjoyed a Heliography Day with great results and are now painting on silk. The small calligraphy booklet which will be available for sale as a souvenir at the September 5-7 arts and crafts festival is well in hand under the direction of leader Joan Lilly. Many members of the Palmwoods Arts and Craft Group will be contributing to this, but the main focus is an exercise for the Calligraphy group using several techniques in poster and other types of display. We extend a big thank-you to Mary Appledorn for making our Embroidery Day very productive. She showed great patience with teaching members how to make ribbon roses and those who covered boxes in anticipation of the rose decoration were also rewarded. Our most senior lady, Dulcie Murray, this year turned 91. A special sausage sizzle was held in her honour at The Shed on July 31. Dulcie is a unique craft lady, who turns out crocheted articles and folk art pieces like a 30 year old. People interested in learning about folk art, basketry, decoupage and dried flowers are invited to attend our working displays at the Palmwoods Memorial Hall on September 6 and 7. Many members of the Palmwoods Arts and Craft Group will be contributing to this but the main focus is an exercise for the calligraphy group using several techniques in poster and other types of display. Come, look, see and ask for our information at our working displays. |
