Young writer a winner PALMWOODS State School student Hannah Booth has been selected from almost 400 entrants to win the regional final of a national writing contest. She will now represent the region at the State finals of the 1997 Nestle Write Around Australia creative writing program. Hannah, with Jess Owen from Stella Maris Primary School, was presented with a $500 collection of Australian children's books for the school library, at a ceremony in the Noosa Shire Library last month. She has also won a $500 personal library of Australian children's books which will be presented at a State awards celebration in Brisbane in November. In what is the biggest creative writing program for primary school children in the country, the contest has 200 zone finalists in Queensland, 20 zone winners and two state winners, one from Year 6 and another from Year 7. State winners will have their stories published in the 1997 Nestle Write Around Australia story collection which is distributed to all primary schools and public libraries in Australia. The program is co-ordinated by the State Library of New South Wales and supported by state and local public libraries throughout Australia.
