Letter to the Editor EDITOR - Having collapsed at work, been transported to Nambour General Hospital by ambulance, transferred to Royal Brisbane by helicopter, spent a week in intensive care, undergone neurosurgery followed by several more weeks hospitalisation - and with no recollection of any of this - I was transferred by ambulance to the head injuries rehabilitation ward at Princess Alexandra Hospital for three and a half weeks before finally returning to my home in Palmwoods. Throughout this time, my husband and daughter were the subject of much caring attention from the wonderful people who live in Palmwoods and its environs, with many offers of support, child care and general concern for the patients well being. This continued when after nearly eight weeks, I ultimately made it home. Every time I have been in a shop or business in the township, I have been greeted with welcoming enquiries as to my health and general wellbeing. I have found this most moving as it has been very genuine, and makes one who has only lived in the area for four years, feel welcome and cared about. I have not talked to a person in the township who has not been aware that I have been unwell, and have found the concern wonderful. It has just reaffirmed my belief that Palmwoods is definitely the place to live as it is inhabited by so many warm and wonderful people. Thank-you for your concern and support. Lyndsay Durham |
