Weed war underway

RESIDENTS are being urged to become "Weedbusters", and help remove noxious weeds from Paynters Creek and the sports fields in Jubilee Drive.

The weedbusting event, Breathing Space for Riparian Vegetation, will take place on October 18, at 2pm.

The Weedbusters will focus on tackling morning glory and other introduced vines.

"Weeds pose a serious land degradation problem, and spread from backyards into the bush, smothering native vegetation, clogging up our creeks, and destroying our native animals’ habitat and food supplies," a spokesman said.

Weedbusters should bring gardening gloves, hats, sunscreen, closed shoes and a water bottle. For further information contact 13 25 23.
