CAMCOS Update

STATE Transport and Main Roads Minister Vaughan Johnson has released potential public transport corridor options for a possible rail link between the North Coast rail-line and Maroochydore.

The Caboolture/Maroochydore Corridor Study (CAMCOS) is investigating a public transport link between Landsborough and Maroochydore, as well as a possible connection to Nambour.

Mr Johnson said the release of the corridor options maps signalled the next phase of the government’s public consultation program to ensure public transport corridor options on the Sunshine Coast met future community needs.

He has urged residents to become involved in the decision process by offering their comments on the options and helping planners to identify the community’s needs.

The maps identify a possible connection into Maroochydore and a possible corridor continuing north past Maroochydore connection to the existing rail line.

It also identified corridor options south of Mooloolaba, with potential options linking to Sippy Downs, Kawana and Caloundra.

It is expected that the corridor selection process will be completed within three months and the preferred option announced by Christmas, 1997.

Details of map display locations is available from 0419 710 787.
