Green growing guide

GARDENERS wondering what’s best for their Palmwoods garden can turn to a new guide released by the Palmwoods Progress Association.

The Growing Guide has a listing of almost 100 plant species recommended by Maroochy Shire Council’s parks and gardens experts as suitable for Palmwoods gardens.

The guide includes trees, large shrubs, small shrubs, vines and ground covers and palm species suited to the local climate and soil.

"For best results, it makes sense to be guided by the type of plants - exotic and native - which might have occurred naturally," the guide says.

It also contains a number of useful tips for putting the palms back into Palmwoods.
