Lions Lines
with Roger Brooke

THE Palmwoods-Woombye Lions Club received a plaque recognising its efforts and assistance over the past 15 years, at the Palmwoods Riding for the Disabled Open Day on Saturday, September 13.

The latest project has been the refurbishment of the RDA clubroom kitchen.

The Lions wish to acknowledge the assistance of BBC Hardware at Kunda Park, in procuring materials for this work.

Members have enjoyed fellowship with the RDA over many years and look forward to an ongoing rewarding relationship.

Local Lions Miss Personality entrant for 1997/98 is Anna Willersdorf who is well underway with the fundraising program and is now looking forward to a trivia night in the Woombye School of Arts on November 8.

This will be a fun night costing only $5 which includes a light supper.

To support Anna with a table booking or to join a team, phone Jane Wright on 5445 0225.

The Miss Personality quest provides the main income for the Lions Kidney and Medical Research Foundation.

This foundation has financed its own research building, costing $1.25 million, at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane. It also funds the cost of numerous medical research fellows.

The foundation also provided $70,000 towards the establishment of the Queensland Eye Bank.
