POLICE BEAT
WITH SNR CONSTABLE PAUL CAMPBELL

A DRIVER trying to take a short cut from Eudlo Road to Paskins Road, late in the evening found that his 4WD could not negotiate the newly raised electric rail line and it became stuck on the track, creating potential for a serious accident. He put on his warning lights and left the vehicle, but a short time later a fully laden goods train using emergency brakes was unable to stop in time. The vehicle was pushed about 50 metres along the line, causing damage to front of train and writing off the 4WD. This has been an ongoing practice for a number of local residents who should be warned that they are liable to heavy penalties and expenses for damage to the line and trains, as well as seriously endangering life.

WE would like to thank people in the area for their courtesy and respect of road rules as there has been only three recorded accidents in the last three months, which is complimentary to the driving ability of the locals.

A COMPLAINT has been received of a man stalking a woman at Montville Road, Palmwoods. She reported that the man appeared to be following her making sexual gestures, and later decamped in a small red Suzuki sedan. Police are making enquiries with the registered owner of the vehicle. Anyone with further complaints or information are asked to contact police.

THERE are only another 30 warrant letters to go out and after that, those who have received letters and not paid their fines, will be visited and warrants executed in person.

MOTORISTS may have noticed a number of traffic blitzes in relation to unregistered vehicles. There have been eight unregistered detected this month and the blitz will continue with co-operation from Queensland Transport, Traffic Branch and local police.

RESIDENTS are reminded that just because the answering machine takes calls, it doesn't mean that police are not working. Due to the volume of outside work, police are engaged on the road but are still contactable at all hours by ringing the Maroochydore headquarters on 54 799888.

THERE have been numerous reports in Palmwoods division of straying horses and cattle. Owners of these animals are reminded to keep their fences in good order and condition, as they are responsible for any damage they may cause.
