Planning starts in Woombye & Eudlo PUBLIC meetings will be held in Eudlo and Woombye this month for the Maroochy Shire Council to present strategies developed as part of the Local Area Plans for the shire's railway towns. Residents and business owners of each town are being urged to attend to participate in the process. The Eudlo meeting will be on Monday, November 17, from 7pm to 9pm in the Eudlo Public Hall while the Woombye meeting will be on Thursday, November 20, from 7pm to 9pm at the Woombye School of Arts. Each Local Area Plan is intended to guide future land uses and development within the respective towns. Stage 1 of the plan preparation process, to establish a vision, objectives and issues for each town, has been finalised. The second stage, which is now underway, incorporates drafting of strategies for each LAP. "These strategies are intended to develop issues that have been identified by the community throughout the process, for example, traffic and transport, town character and heritage, community facilities," a council spokesman said. Stage 2 of the process will include the collation of each LAP and a draft will be placed on public exhibition and written comments called for. Comments received will be reviewed and the LAPs refined, finalised and reported to Council for endorsement. Further information is available from Project Officer, Liz Naim, Strategic Planning Services, on 5441 8655. |
