Top pianist presents Palmwoods recital NATIONALLY recognised pianist Bernadette Balkus will give a recital on the new grand piano at the Palmwoods Memorial Hall on Saturday, November 22. Dr Balkus has studied and performed in Europe and America and was also artistic director for the Third Australian Women's Festival and conference in Sydney last month. She will be flown from Sydney for the performance which starts at 8pm. The cost of $15 for adults, $12 for concession and includes supper. Seating is limited so please book early by phoning 5445 9280 or 5478 9539. On November 25, the Palmwoods Singers Theatrical Society will stage its final Wednesday morning concert for 1997. Those wishing to bring a group or just a few elderly friends along to this popular entertainment are asked to book during the previous week so that seating and catering arrangements can be made. There will also be a visit to the Sundale Nursing Home. Practises have commenced for the Christmas Eve Carols by Candlelight and for the numerous Christmas parties and break-up engagements, as well as the performance of Marjorie Murray's wonderful musical "Spirit of Australia" to be performed at Australia Day celebrations. |
