COUNCIL BRIEFS NO decision has yet been made on a skatebowl for
Palmwoods and no site is being considered. A NUMBER of trees need to be cleared in Landershute Road to allow extension of SEQEB power lines. Cr Littler has inspected the area and suggested a realignment which would reduce the number of trees needing to be removed. He is now awaiting SEQEB approval of the alteration. MAROOCHY Shire Council has adopted a policy relating to staff attendance at community and other groups meetings. The guidelines state that council staff would normally be expected to attend only those meetings that are called by council; are central to the performance of their normal duties; relate to a new initiative of council such as a new policy, plan or local law; or arise from invitations from service clubs or similar for an apolitical guest speaker to outline or interpret policy information. COUNCIL is to proceed with the acquisition of sections of two properties in Shurvells Road to allow the second stage of the roads upgrading to proceed. LAND resumptions to allow widening of the lower dangerous section of Razorback Road have been deferred for three months to allow consultation with the Montville community. The section required the acquisition of approximately 3120 sq m for the unsealed section at the end of the bitumen on Hunchy Road to be widened. Cr Geoff Littler moved for the project to proceed but was outvoted. Cr Schwabe moved that the Montville community be consulted before the Razorback Road was upgraded because of the traffic situation in Montville. Mooloolabas Cr Barbara Cansdell moved that the CEO investigate an alternate route for Razorback Road, Hunchy and its access to Montville on the southern side. Trish and I would like to wish all Division 2 residents and ratepayers a happy Christmas and a very prosperous New Year as we look forward to a turnaround in the economy for the benefit of all residents.
