Your recent article on the life of E.A. Zerner (Hec) was very good.

I have known him for over 40 years and have always considered him a wonderful citizen and friend, including his wife and children.

Hec forgot to mention a very important part of his early life. In his early adult life while growing bananas and scrub felling in the Cooroy district, it was his desire to be a member of the Noosa Heads lifesavers.

As a foundation member, Hec walked from Cooroy to Noosa heads at weekends. He still has his medallions for surf and still water swimming.

A life of hard work has been the main reason for Hec being in very good health at 89 years.
