Brian's service rewarded EUDLO resident Brian Nielson says he has followed in his parents footsteps for most of his life. His father fought in Europe during World War One: Brian defended his country in Papua New Guinea in World War Two. And like his father, Brian has received RSL life membership and the highly regarded Gold Badge. He added the Service Award for 50 years of continuous financial membership to his list of RSL awards last month. And just to keep things in the family, Brians wife Grace will hit the 50 year mark with the RSL next year. Brian said he had lived in Eudlo "forever". "I was born in Nambour and have lived in Eudlo ever since," he said. "But I have travelled a lot from here including overseas and around Australia." During his time in Eudlo, Brian has turned his hand to a number of different vocations, including fruit farming, dairy farming, saw milling and even a position at the local post office. "I just did whatever came my way," he said. "Whenever I felt like a change, or it looked like work was running out in one field, I would find something else." Brian has always been a community minded citizen and has been involved in everything from the church to the school. "Ive really followed my parents example in most things," he said. "They held a strong interest in their local community and I decided to do the same - Ive been involved in everything."
