Lions Lines THE Palmwoods-Woombye Lions Club membership increased again during November, when Lyn Liyou and Jim Rook were welcomed We look forward to their participation at our meetings and projects and the fellowship we all enjoy as Lions. Most residents shopping in the Palmwoods and Woombye areas will have noticed Lions members selling tickets in the large Christmas stocking raffle. Value of the prize is increasing weekly, so that it will be worth at least $800 when drawn on December 20. Ticket price is $1 and the winner will be notified by phone. December is the month when one student graduating from each of Chevallum, Eudlo, Palmwoods and Woombye state primary schools is chosen to receive a Palmwoods-Woombye Lions Bursary. The student is selected by their school and receives a suitable plaque and a cheque for $100. Recipients of the bursary will have demonstrated citizenship and consideration for their fellow students during their last primary school year. Are you proud to be Australian? Why not show it in your garden? The local Lions Club can supply a 6.5 metre flag pole erected at your home, complete with flying flag for $350. We have supplied more than 100 of these poles for proud Australians as far away as Melbourne and Adelaide. Flag poles are manufactured by our own members and profits are used for the local and wider communities. For enquiries about the above items or any other information about Lions Clubs, please call Jane or Tony Wright on 5445 0225. |
