New CAMCOS office

PALMWOODS residents interested in the future of the Caboolture to Maroochydore Rail Corridor Study are invited to visit the new Caloundra office.

Queensland Transport has opened a second CAMCOS office in Caloundra to encourage local residents to play a more active role in the planning process for a new rail corridor on the Sunshine Coast. There is also a CAMCOS office in Maroochydore.

"The office at Maroochydore has been a great success, and has been visited by many local people who have taken an interest in the project," Director of Transport Planning Barry Broe said.

"If there has been any complaint, it was that some Caloundra and hinterland residents had difficulty in reaching the Maroochydore office for information."

Both offices show option maps identifying possible public transport corridors, and other printed information material.

The next stage of the CAMCOS project will see the current corridor option reduced to a preferred corridor or possible two choices.

Mr Broe said this should happen by the end of the year.

"Therefore it is important that as many people as possible have a say on the options so that we can ensure a route is selected which will suit the local community and will provide high quality and efficient public transport option to Sunshine Coast people well into the future."
