Social News As we begin this new year may I wish all readers a happy and healthy 1998. Congratulations to all who have been able to adhere to their New Year resolutions. I'm afraid my erstwhile willpower only lasted a few short hours. A hearty Palmwoods welcome to a young lady who has returned to Palmwoods after 15 years of living in the southern climes of Tasmania. Clare Cox and her two little girls, Lisa and Tilly are now residents of Taronga Street and are looking forward to making new and renewing old friendships. Clare's two daughters are excited at the prospect of attending Palmwoods Pre-School and Kindergarten where their grandmother Mrs Beryl Cox was the director for over 20 years. Tony and Jane Wright of Palmwoods spent their Christmas break travelling to Rockhampton to enjoy the festive season with Tony's son Douglas and his wife Meg, and of course, to catch up with the fast growing tribe of grandchildren. Wayne and Beryl Davis also slipped out of town for Christmas. They drove north to enjoy the scenes and sounds and the fishing of the Hervey Bay area. Congratulations to a lovely Palmwoods lady who will be celebrating her 80th birthday this month. Doris Wilkinson, who has lived in Palmwoods for nigh on 40 years, together with her first husband, the late Arthur Rampton, developed a successful bus service in Palmwoods about 38 years ago. Congratulations Doris and we know you will enjoy the big party your daughters are arranging for January 17. A reminder to all, newcomers especially, please take advantage of Australia Day celebrations on January 26. Breakfast in Kolora Park will commence at 8 am. Come along - just bring a chair or rug to sit on - and enjoy. |
