Urgent need for donors at blood bank The Blood Bank is calling for Palmwoods residents to give blood to tide them through the busy holiday period. Blood Bank spokeswoman Sister Olga Girle said the holiday period was always a busy time, but stocks were particularly low this year because of a spate of accidents. "We've had a number of terrible accident and stabbings in recent months, which required a great deal of blood," she said. These accidents just compund the problem during the busy holiday period. Sister Girle said the current low levels of blood stock, especially groups A and O, were extremely worrying and encouraged donors to make time to donate over the next few weeks. "If everyone who is on our books to donate came in over the next few weeks it would tide us over this busy period," she said. |
