Art group resumes PALMWOODS Art and Craft Group will hold its first meeting for 1998 on Wednesday, February 4, and invites everyone to come and enjoy a cup of tea and a chat at 9.30am prior to the official start at 10am. The usual general meeting will be followed immediately by the annual general meeting. At present, the position of president is vacant following Jeanette Kebblewhites resignation. Immediate past president is Rose McNamara, vice-presidents Ann Borthwick and Joy Hutton; secretary Joan Lilley; public relations Lilian Rice; treasurer Barbara Percival; workshop co-ordinator Pat Hoskins and committee member Lorraine Rowland. Since Jeanettes resignation, Ann has been acting as president and hopefully will accept nomination for this position. Joy regretfully feels unable to continue as vice-president so that leaves two vacancies. It is hoped other members will continue in office. Barbara will be along bright and early to collect the $15 membership fees for the year ahead. The group had a most successful 1997, with excellent exposure at the Memorial Hall 75th birthday celebrations and with paintings on display at Clios Restaurant. Christmas lunch at Clios was most enjoyable. An open day to showcase skills may be held some time this year. Applications for RADF grants must be submitted by March 30, for implementation after June 1998. Discussion is invited at the meeting. Opinions already brought forward include a folk art a workshop, a Vi Wilson paper marbling workshop at a suitable venue, Doug Eising calligraphy workshop and Lorraine Rowlands silk painting. Growing numbers have been noted at needlework and Adele Outridges paper and book making. Paper manoeuvring would be ideal for calligraphers. |
