The Sunshine Coast's most promising junior cricketer Tim Hardingham

PALMWOODS’ Tim Hardingham has been named the most promising junior cricket player on the Sunshine Coast for the 1996-97 season.

Tim, 13, has been a Sunshine Coast representative for the past five seasons and is a Wide Bay Zone representative twice over.

In December last year, he represented the Sunshine Coast/Redcliffe Junior Cricket League in the Under14 State Titles in Townsville. Over the five matches Tim had the best batting figures for the district, totalling 127 runs at an average of 25.4 . His bowling was equally impressive with nine wickets for 95 over 31 overs.

From these titles, Tim was selected to tour New South Wales where he took a total of 12 wickets on the tour and had the best bowling average for his side.

During the tour, his team won four of their six one-day games and one out of the two two-day games. The first one-day victory was claimed from the Canberra Under 15 rep. side by just one run. Tim was 19 not out and 2 for 6 off 1.5 overs.

"The two day game against the Under 16 Gosford-Wyong rep. side was lost on the last ball of the day," he said. "But we were victorious against the same team in the one-day game."

Tim is now playing local Under 14 junior cricket for Buderim and is a third division senior for Palmwoods.

To add to his accolades, Tim, who is also an avid indoor cricket player, was named Junior Under 14 player of the 1997 series in the Wide Bay Superleague Indoor Cricket competition.
