Club looks after youth

JUDO, Aikido and table games are among the line-up of activities being offered by the Palmwoods Youth Club in Briggs Street.

The club, under the guidance of a new committee elected at last month’s annual general meeting, plans to erect a signboard at the entrance to the Frank Suffren Hall to keep local youth informed of future events.

Activities now available are:

JUDO, juniors, Tuesdays, 7pm to 8.30pm; adults, Thursdays, 7pm-9pm. Aikido, juniors 6-15 years, Monday and Wednesday, 4.30pm-5.30pm; juniors 10-15 years Fridays 4.30pm-5.30pm; adults, Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 5.30pm to 6.40pm and 6.45pm to 7.45pm. Knights of the Games Table, Tuesday, 5pm to 9pm; Painting,modelling Friday 5pm to 9pm and Warhammer DD, Sunday 10am to 5pm.

The Palmwoods Youth Club now has 60 members. President is Kurt Pierce, secretary Matt Nixon and treasurer Chris Duncan.

Mr Nixon said the committee has also discussed doing more community based work.

"We are doing well and good numbers are turning up," he said.
