Support raffle plea: "It could be you" LOCAL residents are urged to buy a ticket in two raffles now selling around town, not just for the chance to win the top prizes, but to support the Sundale Hostel Auxiliary. The auxiliary is endeavouring to raise funds to buy handles to be placed at the side of baths in the hostel which will make it easier for elderly residents to get in and out of the bath. The handles are $57 each. The first raffle for an Easter Egg basket and knee rug, will be drawn on April 9, while the second of a Mothers Day cake made and iced by Isabel Baumann, will be drawn on May 10. The cake is on display now at the Palmwoods Pharmacy and tickets in both raffles are only 50 cents. "Fifty cents is not a lot of money to lend your support to a centre where we could all be one day," an auxiliary spokesman said. In a separate endeavour to raise funds for air-conditioning, a sausage sizzle and fashion parade will be held at the clubhouse at Palmwoods Sundale. Cost is $3 for the fashion parade and $5 for the sizzle, so the whole afternoon out is only $8. |
