Social News THE Mothers Union of Saint Augustines has been active in the formation of a Tots and Toddlers group at Palmwoods. The Mothers Union recently held a picnic in the park meeting which was attended by young mothers, their infants and toddlers. They enjoyed interacting in a friendly, safe environment. It was such a success that the young parents decided to get together more often and ao the Tots and Toddlers Group was born. The group meets at St Augustines Church hall every Tuesday morning from 9.30am to 11am. All tiny tots and toddlers, with a parent in tow of course, will be made welcome. WELCOME to Palmwoods to Bert and Edith Grof. Mr and Mrs Grof have ceased globe trotting and have chosen Palmwoods for their retirement. They are looking forward to entertaining their family at their home in Aminga Court. VOLUNTEERS from the community library at Woombye were entertained at a convivial morning tea party at Palmwoods Sundale Retirement Village on Tuesday, March 24. Residents of the village have been working towards establishing a small lending library in a section of the village club room. The Woombye Community Library was able to help by providing books and magazines that were surplus to their needs. Some of the library volunteers who had never visited Palmwoods Sundale before were taken on a grand tour of the hostel and resident homes. Woombye library convenor Elaine Aston congratulated the Sundale residents on their library that is now up and running successfully. Mrs Aston also thanked Sundale residents for the hospitality extended to the library volunteers. She promised that the Woombye Community Library would be willing to assist them again in the future. PARISHIONERS of the Anglican Church held a street stall on Saturday March 21. Potted plants, produce and good home baked cake and biscuits were all snapped up by shoppers. Mrs Barbara Nott, of Palmwoods was the lucky winner of the easter egg basket. RESIDENTS who were unable to attend the local CWA branches display and competition of cookery, crochet, knitting and floral art held in March, should not be disheartened. The CWA divisional finals for the above crafts will be held at the Woombye School of Arts hall at 9am on Monday, April 6. Morning tea will be served at 9.30am. The divisional finals comprise all the winning entries from the CWA branches from Cooroy to Peachester and Maleny and all branches between. There will be 17 separate CWA branches exhibited and the winning entries in the divisional finals will go on to the CWA state finals. |
