"Achievement with Friendship" is the Woombye State School motto and principal Rob Edmonds is now proud to reap the benefits of the school’s focus.

Results of a Statewide test by Education Queensland has revealed that Woombye State School students achieved well above the State benchmark in all areas tested.

The test, taken by all Year Six students throughout Queensland, was made up of three mathematical and two language exams.

A test report presented to the school revealed that Woombye students had blitzed the exams compared with the State benchmark.

Mr Edmonds said it was frustrating to hear people complaining that schools weren’t doing their job.

"We now have evidence proving what we already knew and believed about our school," he said. "All our students know we’re focused on achievement."

Woombye State School also performed well in a series of Statewide satisfaction surveys to gauge opinions of the public education system.

Areas of the school opinion survey where Woombye ranked highly included teacher interest in students, the opportunities to use computers for learning, and the way people in the school care about what students think.

The survey reflected well on school staff as well as the students.

"We have ethos and vision," Mr Edmonds said. "It’s very clear to everyone."
