Probus turns one THE Woombye Probus Club, at its annual general meeting on April 23, elected a new executive for 1998, its second year of operation. The new team is president Don McGlusky, vice-president Viv Blowers, secretary Joan Cuddihy, treasurer Marina Naylor, activities officer Joan Shearer, committee Tony Gaskin, Alan Cuddihy, Dossie Ambler, Betty Crowhurst. Tony Gaskin, the foundation president, gave his report and noted that membership had increased by 50 percent in its first year, there now being 44 members. He thanked his executive and members for their loyalty and support during the year, wished the incoming executive the best and handed over the badge of office. President Don thanked Tony for his hard work in getting the club off the ground and into such a stable position in the first year. A special guest at the meeting was John Dillon from Sunrise Rotary Club who had called the first meeting to gauge interest in forming the club. Social outing this month is a trip to the Alma Park Zoo on Monday, April 6, so if you would like to join in a fun day, be at the zoo at 9.45am.
