PALMWOODS State School commemorated Anzac Day with a special parade on Friday, April 24 involving students, staff and representatives from the Returned Services League and the Lions Club.

At the parade, Blake Deacon, the winner of the Anzac literary award for best short story, was presented with a shield, certificate and $50 prize.

The literary competition received more than 90 entries from Year 6 and 7 students, making it a tough decision for judges Brian Nielsen of the Palmwoods RSL and teacher/librarian Chris Patterson.
