Meetings identify federal concerns TAX reform, Telstra and private health are the federal issues of most concern to residents of Woombye and Palmwoods. Federal Member for Fisher Peter Slipper, who held community meetings in Woombye and Palmwoods last month, said that while there were plenty of questions raised at the forums, tax, Telstra and health were the big three. "I have certainly heard much of what is on the minds of the electorate," he said. "Interestingly, I did not hear a single word against the governments determination to achieve waterfront reform." Mr Slipper said the meetings had allowed him to meet many of the constituents who will be in the electorate of Fisher when the boundary realignment takes effect after the next election. "These forums have given me an excellent insight into the issues affecting peoples lives and how I can work to help them," he said. |
