MURRAY Hoskins and Amanda Bell married at St Augustines Church, Palmwoods, on April11, a significant date for the bride as it was her parents 31st wedding anniversary. The bride wore a classic cream satin gown with a long train and pearl embroidered bodice. The four bridesmaids, which included the brides sister Suellen, wore modern ankle length tartan skirts with satin trimmed caramel coloured bodices. After the ceremony, the newlyweds left the church to the sounds of a Scottish bagpipe played by Don Drysdale. The wedding party departed the church in a stretched landau drawn by Clydesdale Monty. The reception was held at the Palmwoods Memorial Hall which was transformed to a candle lit, white, gold and green pavilion. The grooms parents, Bob and Pat Hoskins live in Palmwoods but many friends and relatives travelled interstate to celebrate the occasion. The brides parents Owen and Lyn Bell travelled from Tamworth and grandparents Sam and Gwen Bowcaut came from Brisbane. The grooms grandmother, 92-year-old Dulcie Murray of Palmwoods, also attended the wedding. THE Nambour Branch of Red Cross thanks the residents of Palmwoods and Woombye for their generous donations to the annual Red Cross Door Knock Appeal. In particular, sincere thanks to the senior students of the Christian Outreach Centre, Woombye and Nambour Christian College who trekked from house to house seeking donations. Thanks also to the volunteers who sought donations, every day of the appeal, from shoppers outside Wades Supermarket in Woombye. All monies collected will be immediately put to good use by the Queensland division of Red Cross. HELEN and Ian McCarthy are proud parents of a baby girl, Laura. Helen is the daughter of Palmwoods Cr Geoff and Trish Littler. The McCarthy family live in Perth and Trish travelled to Western Australia to help look after the family for the first few weeks. JEFF and Meleta Bailey had a busy Easter with the baptism of their three young children, Wade, Taleta and Kale at St Augustines Church on Easter Day. Jeffs sister Sandra Bailey and Meletas sister, Ruth Richards were godparents for the children. Grandparents Bill and Rita Bailey and Bill and Leta Ellis were there to take part in the service. MORE than 10 years ago, some local women who had been teenagers in the Palmwoods area during the 1950s decided to get together to share memories. The area was blessed with teenage youth in the early 1950s who were involved in many local activities including dances, films (operated by the Muller Family twice a week), concerts, CWA, sports and Websters Cafe. For various reasons many moved away from the area and came back for a 1987 reunion. The group have decided to meet at the Palmwoods School every second year until the year 2000. The second last get-together has been organised for 10am on May 17, at the Palmwoods School. Organiser are asking for as many of the districts 1950s teenagers to attend the BYO picnic lunch as they will also be planning for the final reunion in 2000. Anyone interested in attending or knows district teenagers during the 1950s, contact Stephanie on 07 3408 9483 or Yvonne on 5442 1471. Many of the former teenagers have "gone missing" and it would be a shame if they were not given the opportunity to attend.
