DURING May, the Palmwoods/Woombye Lions Club will be supporting the Woombye Scouts and the Lions Medical Research Foundation.

The Woombye Scouts and Lions Miss Personality, Anna Willersdorf, assisted by her committee will host a cent auction at 7pm on Saturday May 9, at the Woombye School of Arts.

Great prizes are up for grabs as well as a lucky door prize. There will also be a "Super Draw" at the end of the evening. All family members are invited and light refreshments will be available.

For further information contact Di Parker on 5442 1922 or Anna on 5476 8073.

The Miss Personality Quest provides most of the income for the Lions Queensland and Northern NSW Medical Research Foundation. This foundation has financed the building of its own research centre at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane at a cost of $1.25 million.

Current projects being supported include research into ways to increase the survival of premature babies, early detection of conditions that cause blindness, establishment of a cord blood band at the Brisbane Mater Hospital for treatment of children with leukaemia, and the development of vaccines against cervical cancer.

The Lions Club wishes all mothers a happy Mother’s Day.
