POLICE BEAT
WITH SNR CONSTABLE PAUL CAMPBELL

BREAK and enters are still occurring in rural areas of Palmwoods with the latest on Chevallum Road, Chevallum. A house was broken into during the day and a number of items were stolen including jewellery, cameras and alcohol were stolen. Residents living in rural areas are asked to be a bit more vigilant and take notice of their neighbours residence and report any suspicious activities.

THERE have been a number of neighbourhood disputes over the last month. Most complaints are of a minor nature but often end up escalating into big feuds. Most of these complaints do not fall into any category that police can handle and a solution can be more readily achieved by calling a toll free number of 1800 017288 which is the Community Justice Program. This is a mediator service provided for the resolution of these disputes.

NOW that we are experiencing a cold snap it is a good idea to remind residents that last year, during winter, there were a number of fires in dwellings caused by careless operation of wood heaters and fires. Fortunately there were no injuries but a little bit of care and maintenance can prevent fires in the home.
Remember that pine should not be burnt in combustion stoves or fires as it cause a build up in the flue and cause flue fires.
Every house should have a smoke detector fitted as they have, on many occasions, saved lives and acted as an early warning system to prevent more serious damage occurring.
