Art and craft wins workshops grant The Palmwoods Arts and Crafts Group has received a boost from the Regional Arts Development Fund with a grant to conduct three workshops later this year. President Anne Borthwick and workshop co-ordinator Pat Hoskins were presented with a cheque at the Environment Day celebrations at Cotton Tree on June 7. The three workshops will be:
Local artists wishing to share in any of these workshops should contact Pat Hoskins on 5445 9250. The Folk Art workshop with Tracey Sims failed to attract a subsidy but will go ahead on July 28 at The Shed. Participants will pay the full fee of $40 for the day. The object to be painted will be a lazy susan or a tray. These are available at The Shed at reasonable cost price. Any late cancellations should contact Pat, as this workshop is heavily booked. After two get togethers at Kays home at Hunchy Road, it has been decided that the group will now meet again at The Shed. The Shed was festooned with scarves brightly painted in many differing designs for the Silk Painting day with Shirley Strano on Monday, June 15. All members participating were delighted with the instruction received and were pleased to add a new scarf to their wardrobe. A big day is being planned for the group "At Home" on October 17. Be on the lookout for future advertising about this event. It will be similar to the display at the Memorial Hall for its 75th anniversary, but in a garden setting at the groups home, 153 Old Bowling Green Road, Palmwoods. There will be demonstrations, craft for sale, Palmwoods Progress Association information stall, white elephant sales, devonshire teas, cakes, jams, chutneys and sale of pre 1950 jewellery. All are invited to drop in for a look and find out what the group are up to. For further information, phone Lillian Rice on 5445 0602. |
